-I finally pulled the gas tank and emptied the gas out. To troubleshoot my motorcycles very bad performance.
-August 25th I had to get another tow. This time I was 31 miles from my home.
-So what's the problem?
-When I unscrewed the 'fuel supply valve' from the bottom of the tank. The 'gasoline strainer' was clogged half way up. The strainer is 3 1/2" long and filters the gas before it goes out of the tank.
-It seems at the factory the coat the inside with a gray sealer. This keeps the inside from rusting out.
-Well it's all peeling and/or flaking off in the tank. When I poured the gas through a coffee filter. An inch at the bottom where the filter cones. Was full of flakes of the sealer.
-So today I used a pressure spray wand. With a soap tank on it. Then proceeded to wash and flush it all out.
-What a job!
-I did this about 15 times and I can still see flaking in the tank. But I did get a lot of it out. I know it'll give me a headache down the road.
-First I need to put the tank back on. Then ride about 50 miles. Just to be sure the flushing worked.
