The Giving of Thanks Feast

Once a year just before Christmas we get together with family and friends and partake in a traditional turkey feast with all the trimmings. Or a non-turkey feast.

Well, we the fortunate ones feast at least.

Either a mother, father, brother, sister, relative or friend would be in the kitchen all day preparing and cooking for the feast.

With care these people complete the feast for all to eat.

Family and friends gather at the table, where all has been laid out, to give thanks, or not.
Than all sit to eat the great prepared and cook feast.

(I need to interject before going on). Not all sit to eat. I myself, being in the military, had to stand to eat the feast of thanks.

But the purpose of typing this is the giving of thanks that people do before eating.

Most give thanks to a non-secular Supreme Being, Higher Power, God or Gods. Or/And the person(s) preparing and cooking for the giving of thanks feast.

Whomever or whatever you give thanks to; have you ever thought of those that grow and make the food you are eating? How about, those that process the food? What of the ones who ship, sell, maintain, stock the shelves and drive the food? Let's not forget government regulations that make our food safe to eat. And those that came up with the legislation for those safety regulations. The people who forgo the day of thanks feast to keep us safe. Fire departments, police departments, medical personnel that come to the home if someone has a medical emergency on thet day.

There are so many more to give thanks too.

But let us not forget those in military service to the United States of America who cannot be with their families, friends and those who have neither. These people sacrifice for us so we can have a day to give thanks on.

Give thanks to them first. These persons in our military are the ones, not only sacrifice their time, but die for our freedoms.

Who do you give thanks to on the giving of thanks feast day?
