A Country Consumed

Our Countries streets are in turmoil.
The Governments three branches have separate agendas.
New laws enacted to regulate and control the people.
Protections for the environment are being repelled.
Congress seems impotent to bipartisanship.
One party refuse to stand up for itself.
The other passes legislation along partisan lines.
Our democracy is being undermined here at home, helped by foreign powers.
Our poor get more destitute.
The backbone of our economy, our middle class, will soon become upper poorer.
While major contribution reelection contributors and ultra-rich receive tax breaks.
And unemployment steadily goes up.
The standard of living goes down and stagnation of wages.
And then there is the rise of inflation.
All the while those that received tax breaks get richer.
The Government saddles our university students with lifelong debt with interest!
It's no wonder students are rebelling and protesting.
Then there's law enforcement.
Using and abusing the Civil Forfeiture Law.
With a shoot first ask questions later policy.
Try defending oneself verbally to a police office.
When you do there's free sleeping accommodations for you.
While you wait to be heard in our overcrowded courts.
If you defend yourself physically a spot in the morgue awaits. 
More and more citizens are mistrusting the police and our courts.
Our country is trying to stop fundamentalist religious extremist home and aboard.
These terrorists are resentful and jealous of our way of life.
Threaten us not only with their sectarian doctrinal dogma untruths.
But with suicide bombers, car bombs and with whatever means they can use.
They want to destroy our dream, our way of life!
Along with other countries that fund these terrorists!
They have no perception for the sanctity of life.
Let alone the rule of law, common sense or reasoning.
It’s their way or you die highway.
The conservative religious nuts at home what to impose their morality on us all.
Legislators in red states change laws to control people living in those states.
Both these groups of people do not believe in the separation of church and state.
Remaking our country and personal freedoms into one religion and thought.
To these religious conservative zealots free will is evil!
Strong leadership and the biggest military on the planet will not suffice.
We're now at a precipice in our country’s history.
Now, more than ever we must stand together.
This country needs an epiphany!
Let's wake up and smell reality people!
