Secrets

We should learn from the past,
Take it for granted and pass it on.
A past some long for and yearn,
Forgetting what we have to learn.

Good old days spoken are about,
This is what certain people tout.
Not realizing they’re in the fray,
Cities filled with people as prey.

On the pulpit someone speaks,
Must be a resolution of peace.
Street fighting students protest,
Conservatives trying to oppress.

Do we know where we are going?
Or leave it up to the all-knowing?
"Life's a bitch", know that's right,
For some a life is just out of sight.

Throughout is misery and despair,
Pollution and garbage everywhere.
Fouling all the water and blue sky,
Is this what we will leave behind?

Greed and poverty grip our nation,
Leaders bring fear and ruination.
Homeland security with global strife,
Everyone with God on their side.

To realize this pain isn’t pleasure,
We come up with harsher measures.
Only to leave a legacy of trash behind,
And this is the way we will be defined.

With each generation that does better,
More come to bear symbols of fretters.
