Marijuana was approved for medicinal purposes in California. Buy a majority of the voters.
Here in the City of San Diego and the County of San Diego. We went through a period of arrest and close done marijuana dispensaries mentality. Now the city government, not sure about the county, has dropped the campaign against marijuana. And opted for regulating it. Which I agree with.
An article in the San Diego Union Tribune
The Article
Was reporting on this. A Mr. Roger Morgan. Associated with the Coalition for a Drug free California. Got his two cents in by stating "government's two largest responsibilities are protecting people and managing tax dollars and neither is possible by legalizing or proliferating the use of marijuana for any purpose".
Below is my email response.
It is my belief that the Coalition for a Drug Free California. Is merely another attempt to control people's lives. This was determined on Mr. Roger Morgan's statement in the San Diego Union Tribune on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. They were, "government’s two largest responsibilities are protecting people and managing tax dollars" and "neither is possible by legalizing or proliferating the use of marijuana for any purpose". It is also the responsibility of governments to regulate.
So where does Mr. Roger Morgan and the Coalition for a Drug Free California get off telling a government what there largest responsibilities are?
Medical marijuana was voted in by the majority of voters in the sate of California. That's a MAJORITY. Not a minority.
Why doesn't The Coalition and Mr. Morgan stay within the Mission Statement? *Combat corruption by drug legalizes at the local, state and federal level. Or is it your intent to control peoples medical lives? As well as our rights to, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?
Marijuana has been used for medicinal purposes for over 3,000 years. Proving it's medical usefulness.
And what about those who suffer from lung cancer, breast cancer, HIV/AIDS, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and Alzheimer's disease? Who would you deny these people of a substance. That would ease their pain and/or prevent the cause?
Stick with the treatment, rehabilitation and preventing children from using.
